I have been following reactions to the changes to the teaching of MFL in schools with great interest. It is obvious that a lot of people have given them a lot of consideration and the conclusions are not always positive.

I cannot claim to be an expert regarding these changes but I do know one thing…… getting students to be interested in language learning has never been easy. It requires a steady, drip-feed approach where the consistent and persistent promotion of languages happens lesson after lesson not only with the students, but at whole-school level and with parents too.
The one thing I know now is that we need to fight for the survival of MFL in our schools! And what weapons we have at our disposal! We have food, the excitement of travelling to a different country, interesting customs to discover, not to mention the idea of food and drink.
Let’s excite our students, fill them with wonder through learning languages through culture.
This is what we aim to do in our immersive restaurant experiences. Our experiences are not a silver bullet but as part of an ongoing campaign to interest student of all abilities and backgrounds, they can be invaluable.
The immersive experiences are available at our restaurant in Staffordshire (WS12 2DN) or we can visit your school.
