Let's all see the flowers today!

Let’s look for the bright side!
On my desk, I have a calendar that shares a little piece of wisdom for every day of the year. Today, the sentiment stopped me in my tracks...
I was caught up in the "million and one" things I have to do—prepping lessons and finalizing our exciting immersive restaurant bookings this week—just visualizing that endless to-do list!
Then, the words of Henri Matisse hit my whirring brain:
"There are always flowers for those who want to see them."

It made me realize I was looking at things the wrong way around! I started thinking of all the positives surrounding me:
I have classes full of interested, enthusiastic learners making incredible progress.
I’m privileged to work with talented colleagues who love supporting our students in schools.
(Even the flowers in this picture are a gift from one of my lovely students! )
Learning a language is exactly the same! It’s so easy to get bogged down in the "hard work"—the vocab drills and those pesky irregular verbs—and forget to appreciate how far you’ve come.
"Seeing the flowers" is the heart of what I do. Whether I’m teaching French to adults or helping students find their confidence in spoken French, my goal is to shift the focus from the "to-do" to the "ta-da!"
Let’s all try to see those flowers today!
