How long will it take me to be fluent?

When people contact me regarding French lessons, they often ask, “How long will it take me to be fluent?”
Unfortunately, this is an impossible question to answer!
Despite the promises in certain adverts claiming that their product or method can make you “fluent in 7 days” or “fluent in 6 months,” these promises are simply not realistic.
From experience, I know that learning a language is a long-term process.

My German teacher at school used to tell me, “Language learning is a 'drippy' subject. It is like placing a pint glass under a slowly dripping tap. As you watch the drips hit the bottom of the empty glass, they do not seem to fill the glass very quickly. However, if you leave the glass there and then come back after a few hours, the glass is half full.” My experience has proved that she was right!
To become a competent speaker of any language, you have to commit to the learning progress and take small incremental steps, increasing your knowledge and confidence bit by bit. It can be very frustrating and you have to develop patience….. a lot of patience!
Saying this, there are ways to speed up your progress, there are short-cuts that can be used and by joining one of my classes I can show you these things. In my lessons, I carefully select the knowledge that will allow you to make the most rapid progress in the shortest amount of time.
The bottom line, though, is that the speed of your progress ultimately depends on how much time and effort you dedicate to your language learning adventure!
Why not make the first step today and contact me about the classes that will be starting in September 2025.
