Help is at hand!

As my students make progress in their spoken French, they often come up against a common problem…..

After they have said their sentence, they are unable to understand and then respond to the answer they hear. This can be extremely frustrating and demotivating after all their hard work!

To combat this, I recommend listening to as much French as possible and one way to do this is by using the following website:

News In Slow French allows you to listen to short extracts from current affairs and interesting topics whilst following the written word. This allows you to familiarise yourself with how the words sound and then recognise them when you hear them in general conversation.

The excerpts are quite short and this is ideal as they do not take long to listen to. If you listen to them regularly a few times a week, your progress increases significantly. If you can understand more French then you have more chance of being able to respond to what is said.

Have a go and let me know how you get on!

If you want to improve your French skills, get in touch to register for the classes that start in September 2025.
